Don't seem to be any links to download, when I found videocache RPM link on softpedia the link just redirects to the download page (which does not appear to have any links!)

Anon,

On download page, there is a 'Buy Now' button, please use that to purchase a copy for yourself.

Thank You!

Aha, you really should change the wording on your home page, it looks like you can download for free but must pay for the 'all-in-one' package with support. Confused the hell out of me.

I am not denying that your product is worth $10 to save the hassle of trying to write something myself :) Just think about fixing your 'conversion funnel' - ie make it dead clear what yr customer needs to do!! (which is Buy the product, not download for free!)

Anon,

I am really sorry for the trouble but AFAIK I never mentioned on the home page that its free. And if you can point out the parts which troubled you, it'll help us improve the usability of this website.

Thanks in advance :)

it's in the FAQ

"Videocache is available for download for free for various platforms and operating systems. Check the download page for downloading the latest version of videocache."

Updated right away. Thank you very much :)

Hi Kulbir...

Where you talk about obtaining the product, I would probably change the wording from 'download' to 'buy online' or similar. Having a 'download' page implies a free download. The big red box also refers to 'download', the 'how tos' don't mention anything about a purchase either.

Once the page is titled as if you are making a purchase, moving the 'buy now' up to prime real estate also seems to make sense. You could then discuss what's included, and talk about the RPM/SRPM/Tgz packages. And then (why not?) have another buy now link. And maybe mention that it is no longer available for free download (if it indeed ever was? it seems like it)

Hope that feedback is helpful to you in securing more sales! :D

Hi Kulbir,

You used to have a free version of this software for download some time back, could you provide the link for it.

Thanks in advance

Hi Kulbir,

Can you clarify the current position as I am confused.

Previously you released the software under GPL. At this time did anyone contribute to the project other than yourself, either code or ideas? If so, now that you have forked the code and moved away from GPL do you intend to provide a download link to the last GPLed software?

Can you also clarify the commercial licensing of the software now, i.e which license will you use going forward and what are the T&Cs.

Please also indicate whether you intend to provide source code with the licensed commercial download and whether you will warrant this now that there is a fee associated with it.

Thanks,
Damian.

Hi Damian,

Yes. People contributed their codes and ideas in forums. But codes were not used in base program and they were work arounds for different people using different operating systems and I could not really accommodate/implement ideas provided due to shear lac of time :( I have not moved away from GPL. The code still stays in GPL.

The code is still in GPL and the source code is provided with the download copy.

But none of the above statements are forever and things may change in future.

In case you have more questions, please feel free to ask :)

Thank You!
