Setup linux+video cache

by raytaylor on 13 May 2011

I am new to linux and dont know much about it.
I am however a very expierenced windows server technician.

So I dont understand things like sudo or tarballs.

Is there a guide that covers setting up linux, squid and videocache from scratch?

I can follow a guide with commands to type and have successfully setup squid on windows, but i couldnt get youtube caching to work. So i have just purchased videocache and am waiting for the email with the files I need.

But i dont know what the best linux distro is to use and am hoping someone has written a guide that covers the full installation of linux, squid and videocache.

Does anyone know if such a guide exists?

Hi Ray,

We officially recommend CentOS or Debian for best performance for experience Linux users. But for beginners, it's best to get started with Fedora or Ubuntu as they are more user friendly. You can find installation and user manual for these operating systems on their respective websites. For manual related to videocache, please check the links in the Sidebar.

Thank You!
