Videocache + Running squi

by bobin on 22 Feb 2010

Hi,

First thanks for the great software.
I've one Squid up and running well and I have 12 ( twelve ) cache_dir's on it.
My question is: I have to delete these cache_dir's from my squid.conf ?

Another question is: I have to create all video directories inside my current structure ? Example: youtube directory, youporn directory, etc, etc ...

Thanks for your attention and help.

Hi Bobin,

Videocache doesn't affect your current squid installation/cache directories in any possible way. The caching directories for videocache are separate and can be created anywhere in the system. They can be on separate partitions on the same disk, separate disks or even on other machines (shared via NFS etc.).

There are no constraints other than that they should be writeable by squid user :)

Let me know if you have more queries.

Thank You!

Nice,

I want to know if it's possible to use all twelve disks with videocache ? Only specify the disks inside base_dir directive inside videocache.conf ?

Is it necessary to create the default structure (youtube folder, youporn folder, etc, etc) inside these directories or videocache does the job ?

Hi Bobin,

You don't need to worry about creating the directory structure all over the place :D Videocache does these things itself :)

Let me know if you have any other queries.

Thank You!
