At present youtube is consuming around 870GB of bandwidth per week, unfortunately we cant profile individual video hits at the moment which is making savings/disk pace projections difficult. Over the summer we are planning on setting up a videocache server to try and reduce this and to improve the performance of youtube within the WAN. Problem downloading and caching the videos
by Anonymous on 8 Apr 2009 hi videocache ! im using mikrotik and videocache it works perfect, but its just one problem I have to watch the video twice for it to be downloaded and cached, the first time i have "Requested video was not found in cache." in my log file, and when i rewatch the same video then it tells me "Video scheduled for download." at my var/log/videocache/videocache.log file and when i watch it aonce again then it tells me "The video was served from cache." Video cache and anonymous proxy running ad zapper

I can get the videocache to work, but then the ad zapper does not work. I think "url_rewrite_access" is the problem, but I am lost. Cleaner script not working ?
by Anonymous on 2 Apr 2009 Hello :) I'm using 1.9.1 version with no probs. My only issue is that while I have the cleaner script enabled and a video lifetime of 3 days , it doesnt remove the videos. Even by running the script manually. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong ? Cheers,4 Answers

by Anonymous on 1 Apr 2009 As it seems to be working it is like this: Client -> squid <-> http server Which means the Squid always connects to the http server to get the files. My question is, I would be more scalable if the clients would be able to connect induvidually to the http server. like this: client <-> squid (squid modifies the http url for flv to http server instead of serving it self) client <-> http server (to download content)2 Answers
