Configuring Squid
After installing VideoCache, we need to configure Squid so that it can use VideoCache as a plugin for caching dynamic videos from supported websites. For this purpose, we need to add certain configuration lines which are supplied with VideoCache bundle in two files viz vc_squid_2.conf and vc_squid_3.conf. Based on the Squid version we are using, we need to choose either of these files. If we are using Squid 2.x, we need to use vc_squid_2.conf and for Squid versions 3.x, vc_squid_3.conf should be used.
Open the selected file in an editor of your choice and copy all the lines. Now, open your Squid configuration file generally located at /etc/squid/squid.conf or /etc/squid3/squid.conf and paste the copied lines at the top of the file.
NOTE: The lines must be pasted at the top of the file otherwise VideoCache may not work properly.
