How do I know that hit_threshold is working properly?
by marlowbg on 31 Dec 2010 Hello Kulbir, As I am testing the videocache with different options to achieve better effectiveness, I see that whatever I set the hit_threshold parameter I always have 800-900 youtube files appear each day in the /youtube/ cache folder. From the Log I cannot see when the file will be downloaded (queued), I saw this only when the parameter hit_threshold = 1, but after I put =2 or =3 I no longer see when the file will be queued, and =1 is actually not good for effectivenes.... by mkassem on 27 Dec 2010 Hi, I installed videocache successfully, and its caching great, but the problem is I am unable to serve my videos. As a preferred httpd, I use nginx. I have the following line for nginx, but for whatever reason I dont think its serving the videos from my videocache, even though it says "cache hit" in the videocache log. server { listen 127.0.0.1; location /videocache/ { alias /var/spool/videocache/; access_log /logs/nginx/videocache.access.log; } } Also in /etc/videocache.conf i ...2 Answers
caching temporary youtube files (16 characters long) which are not usable ...
by marlowbg on 27 Dec 2010 Hello over there, I am using Videocache since 1 week, I noticed in my /videocache/youtube dir that I have lots of files from this type: "a55dc40f06ac6ee0" which are Youtube temporary files. You can recognize them because their name is 16 characters long. for information youtube permanent ID's are only 11 characters long like: A4vtmP_snV8 My questions: Is this happening with other videocache users also? installing videocache with nginx.
by mkassem on 27 Dec 2010 Hello, I installed the new videocache bundle, and its caching great, but I dont think its serving the files from the cache (even though it says its being served from cache). With my previous perl re-writer it would serve the video at a very fast speed, now its going slow. I think the problem is that I have not configured nginx properly. VIDEOCACHE STOP CACHING WITHOUT GIVING ERRORS

I tried version 1.9.5, 1.9.6, 1.9.7. and still doing the same. when it starts working, it works perfect for a few minutes, then stop saying Video Scheduled for download. and dont cach anymore. VideoCach not functioning properly
